Dr. Nina Doyle

Dr. Nina Nghi Doyle was born in San Francisco and raised in Orange, California, a sunny city in Orange County. She attended Orange High School where she graduated valedictorian of her class. As a Regent Scholar at the University of California at Irvine, she earned two degrees, a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and a Bachelor of Arts in English. She served as President of her sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta, earning the distinction of Outstanding Greek Senior of the Year. She was a member of the Order of Omega, a Greek national honor society. Dr. Doyle went on to attend the New England College of Optometry in Boston, earning her doctorate in Optometry. She served as Class President, winning the Student Leadership Award. She also received honors in her clinical externships, which included the Baltimore Veterans Administration Hospital and the New England Eye Institute. She was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa, an optometry national honor society.

Dr. Doyle completed a residency at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center in ocular disease with an emphasis on low vision services. Dr. Doyle returned to Maryland in 2004 with her husband, Dr. Andrew Doyle, also an optometrist, and joined Dr. Klonsky’s practice. In addition to providing primary eye care services, Dr. Doyle also specializes in ocular disease and vision rehabilitation services (low vision).

Dr. Doyle is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Maryland Optometric Association (MOA). In 2005, Dr. Doyle received her fellowship from the American Academy of Optometry. In 2006, she was awarded the Young Optometrist of the Year award by the MOA, given to a young optometrist who has contributed significantly to the state of Maryland. She is a former President of the Anne Arundel County Optometric Society. She is Board Certified by the American Board of Optometry.

Currently, Dr. Doyle serves as President of the MOA Educational Foundation. She also chairs the Public Information and Public Relations Committee and the Healthy Eyes, Healthy People Committee of the MOA. In November 2014, she was awarded Optometrist of the Year in recognition of her outstanding service to the optometric profession and the citizens of Maryland.

She volunteers her time in the community, having served five years as Treasurer and as a Board of Director for the facility corporation for her sorority’s chapter at the University of Maryland in College Park. She was also involved with Girls on the Run of the Greater Chesapeake, as an Assistant Coach for Arnold Elementary School in Fall 2010 and as a race event volunteer. She volunteers with the MOA providing eye exams and vision screenings for the homeless in Baltimore and for school-age children in Baltimore City. She also served as a Girl Scouts Troop Leader for her daughters' troop.

The Doctors Doyle live in Millersville, Maryland with their daughters, Ripley, and Ryder and their cats. They spend their free time gardening, having dinner with friends, traveling and playing ping pong.
