Dr. Dana Greiss grew up Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, a small town in Lancaster County. She attended Elizabethtown Area High School where she graduated valedictorian of her class. Dr. Greiss then continued on to the Schreyer Honors College at the Pennsylvania State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biobehavioral Health, graduating with high honors. While at Penn State, Dr. Greiss participated in the Lion Ambassadors, a student organization that works to convey the university’s history, traditions and pride through campus tours and other events. She was also actively involved in the largest student-run philanthropy in the world known as Penn State’s Dance Marathon (affectionately called THON) which raises money for pediatric cancer awareness and research. Dr. Greiss also spent a semester studying abroad at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia.
Dr. Greiss went on to optometry school at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) at Salus University. During optometry school, she received numerous clinical honors in her externships, including an externship in pediatrics and vision therapy. She served as Vice President of the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society and earned membership into the Gold Key International Honor Society, an optometric honor society that recognizes academic excellence, leadership and service to the community. She was awarded the College of Optometrists in Vision Development Award for outstanding knowledge and skills in behavioral optometry. Dr. Greiss was active in the Student Optometric Service to Humanity (SOSH), a volunteer organization which completed a week-long mission trip to Belize to provide free eye exams and glasses to those in need.
Dr. Greiss graduated valedictorian of her class from PCO and continued her optometric training as a resident in Vision Therapy and Rehabilitation at EyeCare Professionals in New Jersey under the guidance of Dr. Barry Tannen, a well-known leader in the field. Dr. Greiss has extensive experience in family eye care, including pediatric eye examinations, and vision training and rehabilitation. She is a member of both the Maryland Optometric Association and College of Optometrists in Vision Development. In 2015, she earned her Fellowship in the College of Optometrists in Vision Development.
Dr. Greiss and her husband, Adam, recently settled down in Gambrills, MD. They are excited to begin a new chapter in their lives. As newlyweds, Dr. Greiss and her husband went to Hawaii for their honeymoon. They enjoy spending time with their family and friends, sports, movies and travel and look forward to exploring the local area.
